Ca urmare al atacului brutal la care a fost supus jurnalistul si activistul pentru drepturile omului - Ilgar Nasibov, Asociatia Hyde Park, isi exprima solidaritatea cu jurnalistii si activistii hartuiti de catre indivizii neidentificati (la aceasta ora), cit si ingrijorarea ca guvernul nu este extrem de efectiv in stoparea persecutiilor activistilor civici. In acest context, Hyde Park cere guvernului Azerbaijan sa investigheze aceast caz de brutalitate in cel mai prompt, transparent si efectiv mod. Mai mult, considerind situatia proasta de sanatate al activistului Nasibov si presiunea exercitata asupra familiei sale, cerem de la guvernul Azerbaijanului, cit si de la organele competente sa ii asigure domnului Nasibov ingrijire medical si protectie familiei sale.

Conform informatiilor de la Human Rights Watch, atacul a avut loc pe data de 21 august, 2014, in oficiul sau - Centrul de Resurse pentru Dezvoltarea ONG-urilor si Democratiei. In acest context, suntem inclinati sa credem ca atacul asupra activistului Nasibov are o legatura strinsa cu munca sa in domeniul jurnalismului si al drepturilor omului.

Hyde Park tinde sa mentioneze ca atacul brutal al lui Nasibov nu este primul caz de violenta si persecutie in Azerbaijan al activistilor civici de aceea, cu scopul de a sensibiliza opinia publica, Hyde Park va protesta pe data de 2 septembrie, 2014 in fata Ambasadei Azerbaijanului la Chisinau.

NGO Hyde Park expresses its solidarity with the journalists and activists being prosecuted in Azerbaijan

(en) Following the horrific attack on the human rights activist Nasibov in Azerbaijan, the Moldovan Human Rights NGO, Hyde Park, would like to express its solidarity with the journalists and activists being prosecuted and harassed by unidentified people (at this hour), as well as ask the Azerbaijan government for a prompt, efficient and transparent investigation of this outrageous case of assault. Moreover, taking into account the poor health situation of Nasibov and the pressure exerted on his family, we ask the government to ensure Nasibov and his family protection and medical aid.

According to the Human Rights Watch, the attack took place on 21st of August, 2014 in Nasibov’s office - Resource Center for Development of NGOs and Democracy. Therefore, we strongly believe that this attack was related to his work as a journalist and human rights activist in Azerbaijan.

We would like to bring to your attention that the brutal attack on Nasibov is not the first case of violence and torture inflicted on human rights activists in Azerbaijan. Thus, in this context, as a Human Rights NGO, Hyde Park will take further action by protesting at the Azerbaijan Embassy in Chisinau on 2nd of September, 2014.
